Brett and I suck at keeping this up. Perhaps eventually (when we retire) we will have time to update and catch up... But until then I thought I would show what we did last weekend. (my birthday)

It first started out with a dinner date to
I Fratellini (my early birthday present). I'll have to say Brett did a good job keeping all this secret for most of the week while he was planning our special night out. He is notoriously good at spilling be beans on his "surprises" but somehow made it to that night before letting me know where we were going and how I should dress.

When Brett and I were dating he took me to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City and all he seems to remember me saying about that trip is how much better the St Louis Zoo is...That doesn't sound like me... Well we've lived in STL for about 6 months now and never made it to the Zoo during the good weather so Brett decided it was time to go during the "WildLights" exhibition and freeze our buns off while looking at the cool light displays and see some of the animals out at night.

The penguins were awesome to see but as the little girl in front of us described it perfectly with her fingers over her nose, "this place stinks!". Because of my new sensitivity to smells I found that plugging my nose and wrapping my scarf around my face was the only way I was able to endure the place.

All I could think of was "Rock-o" from the Pebble and the Penguin when looking at this breed of penguins! And yes, I sang the "Now and Forever" song from the movie the whole time we were walking around. Brett pretended he didn't know me.

The rest of the weekend was awesome. My parents flew into town that Saturday from Florida and took us to
Tony's for an amazing dinner. Sunday (my actual birthday) was spent with some close friends, dinner, and cake. This weekend was great, I'm so happy I had my appetite back so I could enjoy all the yummy places. The 2nd trimester is AWESOME!
Many Happy Returns! I just love Birthdays. Bravo to Brett for planning a surprise and keeping it.
