When given the chance for a quick getaway to drop off a horse in Florida for my parents and leave our baby with Oma, Opa, and her adoring tia maria, we took it!
We left around 10 at night and drove the 12 hour drive to Tallahassee straight through the night switching driving turns in order for Monique (the horse) to not overheat in the 100+ weather we've been having lately.
The goal was to get to the beach by the afternoon and enjoy one night and two days in the sun...unfortunately for us mother nature had a different idea and ordered up some huge rain clouds.
Despite the wet weather, we still managed to get tanned and thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Destin Beach.
It was really nice to sit at a restaurant and only have to entertain one baby... :)
On our way home we decided New Orleans was only a few hours out of our way, Brett had never been there, so we made an adjustment to our map and headed west for Bourbon Street!
For dinner that night we decided to try the raw, chilled oysters from Felix's (famous place?) and decided next time to have them fried.
It was a fun little getaway, nice to remember how much Brett and I like each other and we were really happy to spring free just the two of us, but we would be lying if we said we didn't miss our little munchkin. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like she even noticed we were gone!

Brett-Your little baby girl is adorable. Very beautiful. So is your wife. Hope life is well. Wish we could run into you guys!
ReplyDeleteHooray for parent getaways! And I totally agree with you on the whole raw oyster thing.
ReplyDeleteBrett, the picture of you sleeping looks very similar to the one of me on our trip to Zion's, wouldn't you say?
