Back on the Horse

In case any of you were wondering if I would ever get back on a horse after the separated shoulder incident I can put your minds at ease, I had my first horse-riding lesson (From Stephanie and Sidney).

I was a little hesistant, but I knew I had a great teacher so I mounted Charlie and didn't look back (Charlie is one of the newer horses to come down to the homestead from Peeper Ranch).

Some of the drill we did this afternoon were standing in the seat, touching Charlie's ears and tail, touching my right shin with my left arm and vice versa, and finding my stirrups without looking down. Pretty much all of the drills you can think of for a 5-year old and their first lesson.

  1. Good job Brett...that is brave of you. I just remember when Steph took me snow-mobiling. She was driving and I thought I might now make it out alive. Yes, I lacked faith, things turned out quite alright. And hey, Steph, I finally lit the oven on fire last night. No joke! The smoke alarms were going crazy and I'm just glad none of the neighbors valued my life enough to come over and see if everything was okay. We are truely of one heart and one mind :)
