Brett and I have now successfully been here for 5 days. Unfortunately I can't find my beloved camera so you'll just have to wait for some new pictures. Our suite is larger than I ever expected to have while living in the hotel. We have two bedrooms upstairs accompanied by 2 full bathrooms. The downstairs has another bathroom, a big livingroom/dining room area AND a large kitchen with a stove, microwave, refrigerator, and pots and pans to cook with. No oven...probably a good thing for me right now... but very comfortable to live in. Oh ya, there's also a big deck outside that you can see the ocean...on a clear day... it has been SO foggy out here I literally can't see outside the window. That's what winter is like out here however the evening time is quite beautiful. Brett and I have consistently been on a walk every evening together to explore new sites and everywhere we go there are lots of very nice people, salsa clubs up the wall (Crystelle I know you'd like that), lots of good food, and fun little
parks to play in.
Anyway, the purpose of this post:
Brett and I decided to become members of the local grocery store (literally across the street from the hotel called
Vivanda. Brett made me talk to the woman (in Spanish) and tell everything she needed to know to fill out my form. She was very understanding and patient with my poor Spanish but also couldn't help laughing at my huge mistakes. After answering a couple of grueling questions such as what is my name, when is my birthday, what is my telephone number, she got down to the big question, "what is my occupation?"?? I have been the perpetual student for the last...19 years? I turned to Brett and as we were trying to think of what to say and she said, "Ama de Casa?" Brett smiled and said, "Si". I am officially the "mother of the house" according to Vivanda Grocery store. Now to find a house...
I glad you made it okay! I already miss you! Check out our blog @ thethreejps.blogspot.com. Hopefully we can stay in touch--even if it is through blogs and email.

Ha, ha...I miss you too. But love hearing your stories. I'm so jealous you'll be speaking spanish. Mother of the House!! That's awesome. Wedding drama again...planning that is. I'll have to email you and tell you all about it :) I'm less stress though.
ReplyDeleteDoes the maid do all the cleaning for you? If that is true, then I think you should become the "Mother of the Hotel". I can think of nothing better than never cleaning another toilet.
ReplyDeleteokay, that is a great story! i'd love to know more about this exclusive grocery store that requires memberships! hehe ...or was it for like a savings/bonus program.
ReplyDeletehappy you guys are enjoying life there! miss your face.
