Pea SOUP!!

My little kitchen

We've decided to start eating more meals at home (in the hotel apt) than out at restaurants. This meant I had to become more confidant with cooking the foods/going to the grocery store without Brett.

Just today I made 3 trips to the store because I had a hard time finding things like chicken bouillon which made me have to go back up to the hotel room to google translate what it could be (caldo de pollo) or I'd forget to buy something like bay leaves (Laurel...actually I don't know if that's what it is, but I put it in the soup!).

Bonuses for going to the store multiple times: I've learned a lot of new vocabulary words. For example: onions are cebolla, carrots are zanahoria, and jamonada de pollo is an awful version of spam (I thought i'd be adventerous and get meat from the deli...didn't work out well) .

My raw, fresh vegetables. Note the Chlorox in the top right corner. I wash all my vegetables in a diluted water/bleach solution to try and kill all the germs.

The pea soup. My little $9 entree has now lasted 3 meals and we still have a plethora of it...who knew?

yeah, I know it looks awful, but it was GREAT! Right Brett?

  1. Steph I'm so proud! It looks amazing! It's too bad you don't have your handy bread maker to make some bread with your pea soup!

  2. Ha,ha...all this pea soup making. First Liz, then Annie, and now you. Do I need to make pea soup for Chris? Maybe you should google all your ingredients before you go to the market. But if you need to fill your time maybe you should just make a seperate trip for each item. I bet the cashiers totally know the American House Wife :) I'm proud of you Steph.
