The 18 Miler

Today we set out to run 19 miles in preparation for the marathon that we'll run in just over a month, and while we only made it 18 miles we sure had one heck of a time. Here are some of the interesting things we saw:

Muchos tourists. You can always recognize a tourist in Lima by the large backpack, cameras, and the sock-sandal combination.

Fanny packs. Peruvians love fanny packs and they are quite the rage. Runners wear them, skateboarders wear them, even people at the gym love a good fanny pack.

A dead, bloated dog on the side of the road (We also smelled this one).

As race day nears we are getting very excited. We've been Itraining (communicating through the Internet after we do our training) with family and friends and continuing a tradition we started during the last Ragnar Relay, "Runner of the Week". Here's hoping to a great race.

PS - For those of you in the group who haven't been as faithful with the training schedule, let this be a warning.

  1. I'm glad you have continued the tradition. Ah, yes the satisfaction of being runner of the week. A joy I did not experience. The one week I had my chances of beating you two because you were on your honey moon I was struck ill. Maybe the Lord new I could not take satisfaction in that cheap shot as success! He was telling me to run harder an win it fair and square...oops, I really let the ball drop on that one.
