I learned how to wash laundry when I was 8 years old (Thanks Janet). Steph also learned how to wash laundry at a young age (Thanks Mammy). Throughout my 18 years of laundry I have stuck to three principles:
- Separate the whites from the darks
- Fill the soap to the line on the cup
- Throw in a dryer sheet with the wet clothes
I have consistently stuck to these three principles over the last 18 years, barring the few times I ran out of dryer sheets (This mostly happened in college). I have always used soap though, and separated the whites from the darks. However, on a few occasions I have let others do my laundry and have had to suffer the consequences.
Four years ago I let my mom wash my clothes while we were visiting family in Santa Fe. Long story short, my white clothing came out pink.
Fast forward to the present when my beautiful wife, whom I love more than anyone or anything, was doing the laundry today when I heard exclaim, "Uh oh, baby, tell me that you love me". Thinking something had broken with our new dryer, I approached her in the laundry room. She repeated her previous statement and I told her that I loved her. Then I saw what had happened, she had violated rule #1 and mixed her green sweater with our whites. Everything except my Ragnar Relay Runner T-shirt was turned green. She then told me that she had mixed her whites with her darks many times before and had never had a problem, well, only a few times. All I can say is, don't pinch me on St. Patrick's Day or else.

That happened to me! I now have a pink undershirt and bras! I have never had a bleeding problem, but then just one time with one small load...
ReplyDeleteOh, no...ha, ha...not to be rude but that just seems like something that would happen to Steph.
