A few of my favorite things...

It's easy to catch myself shouting out things like, "I HATE PERU!!", in sudden bursts of anger while living down here. For example, Brett decided to give me a driving time-out after I announced that I was going to ram our car into the next driver that tried to weasel his car into the space between me and the car 5 inches in front of me. The truth of the matter is, there are a lot of things about here that can make me upset; however, I've found there are a lot of things that make me happy.
For example:
OUR NEW DRYER!!!
I know I messed up with the silly green hoodie and our whites wash (see previous post) but having non hang-dried clothes that come out of a warm dryer soft and instantly dry makes me so happy!!
Our new vacuum cleaner, Naughty-NoNo.
We got him for free with the purchase of our dryer. He helps keep the dust off our floors so much better than the old broom and dustpan and makes cleaning much more enjoyable.
Our bed.
Janet, thank you for making us this beautiful jean quilt! It does an amazing job keeping us warm in the cold nights, well covered during scary movies, and extra padded on our hard bed. Mammy Jones, thank you for the 1000 thread count sheets you supplied us, I feel like I'm in heaven on top of them. You can also note the Nestle chocolate chips beside my bed...I run 30+ miles a week so I feel completely justified snacking on them before I go to bed (before I brush my teeth while I'm reading my book).
Papa fritas! (aka, french fries)
My favorite meal... I've mastered frying french fries in oil with lots of salt. Look out cholesterol!
The Malecon.
Brett and I have jogged along the whole oceanside you can see from this picture and beyond as we put miles under our feet for the marathon. We also enjoy taking walks along the shops and little markets along the rim of the cliffs. I'm getting pretty excited for this spring season to finally come, all I can say is it's about time.
Playas.
The nice parking attendant close to where we live waiving his sign to all the drivers passing by. He will stare directly into your soul as you drive by and point to his playa de estacionamiento to make you feel like you're supposed to park there. I always get a laugh when I see it...
Double yoked eggs!
I have no idea how these came about but we have a whole carton of eggs that have two yokes inside them. (we're 4/4 as of right now) Steroids perhaps? For this reason I don't let Brett lick the bowl when I'm making cakes and cookies.
Dinner dates with my husband.
Peru is known for their AMAZING food and we can't help but take advantage of how cheap the food costs. You can also note my orange FANTA soda placed in front of me. Sodas in a glass bottle just scream classy dining down here in Peru.
Ok this isn't Peru but I can't imagine living down here without my husband... I actually can't imagine doing anything without him. Thanks for all the fun times and amazing experiences!

  1. 4/4 on the double yokes! That is kinda scary. Did you cut those fries yourself. They are so uniformly cut and perfect! I'm glad you have chocolate chips by your bed :)

  2. It's always nice to remember the things you love... I think I should do that more often. It sounds like you guys are having so much fun together, depsite the crazy drivers there! I love the wedding picture. You guys are so cute!

  3. No, the french fries came from a bad purchased at the local store...but it's taken a few batches to understand the correct ratio of oil and salt to make them taste so good! ;) We're up to 10/10 on the eggs now, who knows WHAT the hens down here are eating!!!

  4. Okay, no offense to Peru, but I was pretty sure that England was more modernised than them. You've proven me wrong! Dryers are not normal here. We are suffering! And now jealous...
